Leach Field Repair in North Attleboro MA

All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services are experienced diagnosing and repairing septic systems and leach fields/ drainfields. We have been called in for a leach field repair in North Attleboro MA which has been caused by irregular pumping of their septic system. A septic tank should be pumped every 3 – 5 years depending on various factors including water usage and tank size. If the tank fills up with an excess of solids, the wastewater will not have enough time to settle in the tank. These excess solids will then pass on to the leach field, where they will clog the drain lines and soil. The property owner called us concerned because they had liquid puddling on their leach field and sewage smells coming from it. We were able to educate the customer to help ensure that their problem will not reoccur and begin their leach field repair. We also have other septic repairs scheduled today in Holliston, Sharon, Canton, Franklin, Bellingham and Blackstone MA. If you are concerned that you may need a septic system repair, leach field or drainfield repair, septic pump repair or d-box repair please do contact our office to discuss your concerns and to make an appointment if necessary on 508 763 4431 or visit All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services

Septic Pumping Is Essential Septic System Maintenance

All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services know that after getting through the holiday season many people are getting back to ‘normal’ and hoping their finances will do the same. However although some maintenance can be put off until your wallet has recovered from the holiday season one thing that really should not be ignored is septic maintenance, more specifically septic pumping. Septic pumping is not a ‘nice to do’ item but something that has to be done if you have a septic system servicing your property. It does not usually have to be done that often, generally every 3-5 years depending on factors including the size of your system and the number of people using it. However it should be done regularly and if you leave too much time between septic pump outs you will start to see unpleasant and costly repercussions.

We have septic pumping scheduled today for customers in Hanson, West Bridgewater, Sharon, Taunton, Norton and Raynham MA.

Here are some other suggestions that will keep your system running smoothly:

Septic System Do’s and Don’ts

Things you should do

  • DO get your septic tank pumped regularly and have it checked for any cracks or leaks.
  • DO call All-Clear for a Voluntary Assessment of your septic system.
  • DO conserve water whenever possible as a means of reducing the volume of wastewater that will need to be treated and disposed.
  • DO make repairs to any faucets or toilets that are leaking.
  • DO make sure that you are only discharging biodegradable wastes into your system.
  • DO restrict or avoid use of your garbage disposal.
  • DO take the time to ensure that any down spouts or other surface water is diverted away from your drainfield.
  • DO keep the cover to your septic tank accessible by installing covers and risers for easier inspections and pumping.
  • DO have an effluent filter installed to prevent debris from entering your drainfield.
  • DO add a laundry filter to your washing machine.
DO put kitchen trash into a compost or throw it into the garbage – not down your drains.

Things you should NOT do

  • DON’T flush products such as tampons, sanitary napkins, condoms, disposable diapers or wipes into your system.
  • DON’T empty oils or other types of kitchen grease down your drain.
  • DON’T dump any items that can disrupt the treatment process or contaminate groundwater, such as: paints, oils, thinners, pesticides, poisons or disinfectants.
  • DON’T build anything over your drainfield or dig in it for any reason.
  • DON’T plant any landscaping over your drainfield – except grass.
  • DON’T drive a vehicle over your drainfield or compact the soil in ANY way.
  • DON’T run purification back flush into the septic tank.

Title 5 Inspections Taking Place In Massachusetts

All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services know that in winter when it snows or the weather turns icy sometimes the Title 5 Inspections that we have scheduled may not take place. Whether our inspector or customer can not get to the location of the inspection or the septic system is not accessible or for another reason there is no need for property owners to panic when they need the inspection for a property sale. Massachusetts Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs know that we live in a state where the weather can, and regularly does, effect plans. Therefore it is stated on the Mas Gov website:

“If weather conditions prevent an inspection before a sale, Title 5 allows the inspection to be done up to 6 months afterwards, provided that the seller notifies the buyer in writing of the need to complete the inspection.”

We have Title 5 Inspections scheduled today in Seekonk, Rehoboth, Norton, Swansea, Fairhaven, Fall River and Acushnet MA. If for any reason the septic inspection can not take place we will always endeavor to reschedule the inspection as quickly as possible at a time that is convenient. If you have any questions or wish to schedule a septic inspection please do contact our Norton Office on 508 763 4431 or visit All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services

Septic Services Are Beneficial For The Same Reasons As Vehicle Services

All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services know that car owners will often choose to have regular services on their cars to keep their vehicle working at optimum efficiency and to stay ahead of any repair work that might come up rather than be surprised at an inconvenient time and find that their car doesn’t work. For exactly these reasons we have many customers on our Preventative Maintenance Program for their septic systems. Again you want your system to be working efficiently and it is definitely preferable to have your system maintained which helps prevent repairs from being necessary. If a repair is required you want the issue to be identified before it becomes a big problem to avoid a breakdown which for septic systems can not only be inconvenient but also unpleasant, expensive and a large disruption, especially if it is a septic system that supports a business. For these reasons we have many commercial clients in addition to those with residential properties. We service many types of septic system including Singulair, FAST, Sand Filter, Fuji Clean and Jet Systems. Today we have septic services in Sturbridge, Oxford, Brookfield, Sutton, Ware and Northborough MA. If you would be interested in a septic service or if you have any questions about septic systems please do contact our Norton office on 508 763 4431 or visit All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services

Did you Know Cold Weather Can Result In Septic Repairs Being Necessary?

All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services know that septic problems arise whatever the weather is doing. However cold weather brings its own set of problems for example:

  • If you have a ‘summer home’ or go away and leave your property for periods of time or just use it part of the week wastewater does not enter the system regularly enough and can freeze
  • If you drive over your septic leach field or drainfield you compact your soil. Compacted soil freezes more easily which can result in damage and possibly a failing septic system. If it is snowy and you drive over the snow on your system the snow will then provide less insulation for your septic system than snow which has been left untouched
  • If you don’t have enough vegetative cover over your septic system you have less insulation from the cold
  • Leaks in your plumbing release water into the septic which can then freeze
  • Poor pipe drainage can be caused by deteriorated pipes, if they are full or back filled with soil or poorly installed. Liquid will pool on one side and can then freeze

Essentially the cold can lead to your septic system freezing which leads to problems, possible repairs and even septic failures. Ironically snow falling is a good thing. Fresh snow is an excellent insulator. As it gets compacted it becomes less effective but it is better than a complete lack of snow cover, dry soil conditions or very cold air temperatures for an extended period of time which will all contribute to septic problems. Today we have appointments in Canton, Stoughton, Sharon, Hingham, Scituate and Hanover MA for septic repairs, some of which are caused by septic system owners not planning for the cold weather. If you have any questions about septic system or need to have a septic repair please do contact our Norton Office on 508 763 4431 or visit All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services

Septic System Maintenance Is Necessary To Avoid Repairs and Failures

All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services know that even though it is only January 2nd it suddenly feels like the holidays were a long time ago and we are all getting back into the swing of things. This means that property maintenance that you have perhaps been putting off over the holiday period should now be looked at and not postponed anymore. Septic System Maintenance is really not something that should be put off for too long because if left it can lead to large and expensive repairs being necessary or even a septic failure. The most important septic maintenance is septic pumping. The average recommended pumping frequency is between 3 and 5 years, depending on the tank size and number of occupants. The longer you wait between pumping the greater the likelihood that you may have a septic problem and you will shorten the lifespan of your system and eventually it will fail. As wastewater enters your septic tank from your property, the solid matter will be held in the tank and break down into “sludge” over time, while the liquids continue on to the absorption area (leach field / drain field).

Sludge is never meant to exit your septic tank, so it must be pumped out on a regular basis — you don’t want the sludge to accumulate to the point where it starts exiting the tank towards the absorption area or backing up into your property. Once this happens pumping will not rectify the issue and you will be looking at additional costs to repair your system and if left too long you may have to replace your septic system or at least parts of it which is both expensive and disruptive. We have septic pumping scheduled today for customers who are choosing to keep on top of their septic system maintenance  in Maynard, Stow, Hudson, Boxborough, Bolton and Marlborough MA. If you require septic pumping or if you are not sure if it is time or if you have any questions please do contact our office on 508-763-4431 or visit All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services for an evaluation and to set up quick and easy pumping arrangements.
