All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services are all looking forward to Thanksgiving and the great food and time with our family and friends that goes alongside this holiday. We know our customers are also looking forward to Thanksgiving and food preparation is well underway for Thanksgiving Meals. We would like to remind our customers that it is not a good idea to put any type of cooking oil, fat or grease down the sink where it can enter your septic system. Whilst a well maintained septic system can cope with small amounts of fat, oil and grease, such as natural body oils that go into your septic system when you shower, if you regularly introduce cooking fats, oils and grease into your septic system it could result in a septic system failure if left. Just remember when you are making your beautifully juicy turkey dinner do not pour the fat, oil or grease down your sink. We have been conducting septic repairs in Bridgewater, Raynham, Stoughton, Sharon and Canton MA that could have been easily avoided with a little knowledge and preventative measures. If you have a question about your septic system or you need to schedule a septic repair please contact us on 508 763 4431 or visit All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services
All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services are all looking forward to celebrating Thanksgiving with our friends and family on Thursday. Of course nobody wants to be concerned about their septic systems over the holidays but it’s a good idea to be conscious of your water usage. When you have a septic system and are not on town sewer it is recommended to spread laundry loads out over a week rather than do multiple loads on one day which can overload your system. In the same vein try to spread out bath and showers, especially if you have a lot of visitors. If your septic system is designed and sized for a small family but the number of people using it increases over the holidays just try to be aware of your water usage to prevent problems occurring. In addition to overloading your system with too much waste being introduced at one time you could also just be filling up your system. Even if you are evenly distributing your water usage your septic tank will eventually fill up. A septic system is usually only designed to hold 3-5 years waste so if you are using your septic more than anticipated your system will fill up quicker. If you do think that you need to arrange septic pumping we are available to help. Today we have septic pumping scheduled in Mansfield, Taunton, Middleboro, Lakeville and Norton MA. If you require septic pumping or have any questions about your septic system please do contact our Norton Office on 508-763-4431 or visit All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services

All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services are extremely busy this month with septic services for our customers who want to ensure that their septic systems are in good working order before going into the winter season when it can be much harder to fix septic problems if a repair involves digging into frozen ground. When you have your septic system regularly serviced you are making the educated choice to stay ahead of your septic system maintenance and putting your trust in us so we can find any septic repairs before they become a problem or even prevent them from happening at all with effective preventative maintenance. It is much more cost effective to maintain your septic system rather than to run it and not maintain it until you have a large and costly septic problem that requires a septic repair to fix it, at best. Today we have septic services scheduled in Hanson, Halifax, East Bridgewater, Plymouth, Carver and Middleboro MA. If you would be interested in hearing more about our preventative maintenance program or if you wish to schedule a septic service or if you have any questions about septic systems please do contact us at our Norton office on 508 763 4431 or visit All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services
All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services regularly provide septic system services and septic repairs for customers throughout the region. We also, however, regularly provide other septic services including septic system inspections to customers who have a septic system and need an inspection. In Massachusetts a system inspection is required in the following instances:
- Within 2 years before a sale. If weather conditions prevent inspection at the time of a sale, the inspection must take place within 6 months afterward.
- When there is a proposed change to the facility which requires a building or occupancy permit.
- Any change in the footprint of a building, to make sure that new building construction will not take place on top of any system components or on the system’s reserve area.
- For large systems with a design flow of 10,000 to 15,000 gallons per day or more at full build-out, on the basin schedule shown in 310 CMR 15.301(6), and every five years thereafter.
- Every 3 years for shared systems.
- When the property is divided, or ownership of 2 or more properties is combined.
- When MassDEP or the local Board of Health orders an inspection.

All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services know that in the fall many people are out raking leaves, pruning and generally getting their yards ready for winter. What most non gardeners do not realize is that for many tree varieties fall is the best time to plant them. In fall, the tree can grow new roots without having to feed the leaves. Water requirements are much lower without the leaves on the tree. To us it feels cool in fall, but that is actually the best temperature for root growth. Roots grow best in cool soil. A fall planting allows the tree to grow roots in fall and again in early spring before leaves develop. This gives the tree a good chance to lay down a good set of roots before they need to collect water and nutrients for the leaves. Unfortunately when you are planting large shrubs or trees in your yard if you do so on your leach field you can unknowingly create a septic problem. The roots and sometimes weight of plants can actually damage your drain field which means that your septic system is no longer working correctly and you may need a leach field repair. Septic systems do an amazing job of returning liquids to the soil for purification but the whole system needs to be functioning correctly for this to happen. When septic system failure occurs, the conditions they create are dangerous. These can include:
- Hazardous sewage surfacing in yard
- Health hazards to children and pets
- Noxious odors over large areas
- Polluted streams and ponds
- Sewage back-up in buildings
- Contaminated wells
- Breeding areas for mosquitoes
Today we are at a customer’s home in Westport MA providing a leach field repair which has been damaged when they planted an orchard over it last year. The roots combined with heavy machinery being parked on to of the drainfield during construction have both lead to structural collapse of the leach field piping. A strong sewage odor and dampness over their yard was luckily a sign of a septic problem that the homeowners did not ignore. We can repair the damage so they do not have to worry about the consequences of an inoperative septic system. We also have other septic repairs scheduled today in New Bedford, Fall River, Swansea, Mattapoisett, Marion and Acushnet MA. If you require a septic repair or leach field repair if you have any questions about septic systems please do call us at our office on 508 763 4431 or visit All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services
All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services has been working in this region on septic systems for many years. During this time we have worked with many different types of septic system and therefore gained knowledge and experience working on systems such as Singulair, FAST, Sand Filter, Jet System, Fuji Clean and many others. All septic systems are designed specifically for their own site and have variances which make them unique but most systems are based on the same principles. A conventional septic system consists of a septic tank, a distribution box and a drainfield. Your septic system treats your household wastewater by temporarily holding it in the septic tank where heavy solids and lighter scum are allowed to separate from the wastewater. The solids stored in the tank are decomposed by bacteria and later pumped out. After partially treated wastewater leaves the tank, it flows into a distribution box, which separates this flow evenly into a network of drainfield trenches. Drainage holes at the bottom of each line allow the wastewater to drain into gravel trenches for temporary storage. This effluent then slowly seeps into the subsurface soil where it is further treated and purified. Like anything in your home your septic system must be maintained to ensure it keeps working correctly. If you do not want the worry of looking after your system or have a business and a septic failure would mean lost revenue it may be worth considering our preventative maintenance service program. We service many types of septic systems for our customers on quarterly, biannual or annual basis depending on their system and the amount of use it gets. Today we have septic system services including Singulair Services and FAST Services scheduled in Bellingham, Blackstone, Wrentham, Franklin, Oxford and Upton MA. If you would be interested in a septic service or you have questions about your septic system or our preventative maintenance service program specifically please do contact our Norton office on 508 763 4431 or visit All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services
All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services not only help our septic customers with their septic problems and breakdowns but can also provide septic system upgrades to improve their septic systems. Basic septic tank upgrades can simplify maintenance, improve system function, and protect your drainfield for long-term savings. Access risers and effluent filters are two low-cost improvements for existing or new tanks that we can provide. We are installing an access riser on to the septic tank for a customer today in Attleboro MA. The riser will help the owner and inspectors easily locate the tank, and they provide access for maintenance and repair. They also avoid the need to repeatedly dig up the lawn for routine inspections or pumping. We are also installing an effluent filter today for a customer in Norton MA. An effluent filter is an inexpensive plastic filtering device that fits into the outlet end of the septic tank. The screen helps prevent solids from leaving the tank and clogging the drainfield, one of the most common causes of septic system failure. We have recently provided septic system upgrades for other customers in Mashpee, Reading and Milton MA. If you would be interested in septic system upgrades or if you have any questions about our septic services or septic systems please do contact our Norton office on 508 763 4431 or visit All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services

All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services have been contacted by a client in Rochester MA who suspects that they have a leach field problem. They have noticed a sewage smell in their yard around the leach field area and there is a consistent wet, sogginess on the field. Other signs that you may have a problem can include lush vegetation over the leach field, frequent pumping of the tank being required, and/or slow drains.
Leach fields fail for two primary reasons. The main reason is referred to as biological clogging. This is the development of a biomat beneath the leachfield that eventually prevents the liquid or effluent from entering the underlying soil. This biomat is a combination of fine organic solids that have been carried out of the septic tank and the remnants of anaerobic bacteria. These bacteria originate in the human intestinal tract and enter the septic system with the waste products. 95% of all leach field failures are biological. The second primary reason is referred to as a mechanical failure. This could be a structural collapse of the leach field piping or chambers, root intrusion, or fine non-organic materials that are washed down to the bottom of the leach field and seal the soil.
All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services have many years experience identifying and repairing leach field problems and will find locate and solve our client’s leach field problem. We have other septic repair appointments today in Dighton, Raynham, Rehoboth and Lakeville MA.
