Septic Repairs Can Be Avoided By Knowing What Is Septic Safe To Go Down Your Drains

septic maintenanceAll Clear Septic and Wastewater Services know that septic systems are a wonderfully green choice, which saves on any local sewer charges that would normally appear on your tax bill, and are easy to care for if you keep on top of maintenance. Simply remember that anything you put down the drain will end up in the septic tank, and not all of it will be healthy for the system. Always ensure you’re using green cleaners and paper products that are septic-safe, and refrain from overloading the system with other contaminants. Unfortunately for some septic system owners this advice comes too late and we are often called out for septic repairs on septic systems which could have been avoided by just being more aware of what is entering your septic system and making sure that everyone who is using your system knows what can and can not be put down the drain. We have pulled toys, clothing, sanitary and personal items from septic tanks which have caused problems in addition to seeing chemicals such as drain cleaners, paint and acne medicine adversely affect customer septic systems. Today we have septic repairs scheduled for customers in Canton, Sharon, Stoughton, Hingham, Hanover and West Bridgewater MA. If you require a septic repair or if you have any questions about your septic system please do contact our Norton office on 508-763-4431 or visit  http://www.allclearseptic.com where we will be happy to help you.

Do You Need To Include Septic Pumping In Your Spring Maintenance?

All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services finds that in April we all start to think about spring cleaning and spring maintenance for our property. If you have a septic system regular maintenance is essential for it to keep working correctly. Fortunately septic pumping, which is the most important maintenance for a septic system, is not usually required annually (unless you have a garbage disposal). It is recommended that you have your septic system pumped every 3-5 years so if it has been a few years since you have had yours done or you can’t remember when it was done last now may be a good time to consider having your system pumped or call us so we can help you determine what would be your best course of action. Signs that you septic system is due for a pump out can include:

  • Septic Back up. If you have sewage backup in your property this could indicate that your septic tank is full or reaching capacity
  • Pooling water. If it hasn’t recently rained yet you are still seeing pools of liquid on your leach field this could be a sign that your system is full. When your tank reaches capacity, solid waste can clog the drain field piping system and force liquid to the surface
  • Slow drains or slow flushing toilets are an indicator that your system is reaching capacity
  • Sewage Odors or smells in your home or yard
  • An overly healthy lawn. If your grass is much greener or lusher than the rest of your yard over the leach field you may have a tank that needs pumping

Today we are providing septic pumping for customers in Plymouth, Marshfield, Carver, Sandwich, Bourne and Halifax MA. If you wish to schedule septic pumping or if you are unsure whether your system needs a pump out please do contact our Norton Office on 508-763-4431 or visit http://www.allclearseptic.com where we will be happy to help you.

Septic System Preventative Maintenance Provided To Customers

All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services is fortunate to have many long term customers who we have developed excellent working relationships with. This may seem unusual for a septic company but in addition to repairing and inspecting septic systems we also provide septic system preventative maintenance programs for our customers which many property owners continue to receive for many years because they are so pleased with the service that we provide. We monitor and maintain our customers’ septic systems so they can be confident that their septic system is working correctly and will continue to do so. Nobody likes to have to deal with a septic breakdown but this is especially true for commercial business owners who lose revenue when they are unable to open due to a septic problem. That is why our customers include many local restaurants, takeaways, coffee shops and fast food restaurants. Septic system preventative maintenance is provided discreetly and quickly without causing any downtown in operation which is, of course, essential. We also service residential customers properties and the regularity of our services depends on the septic system and the use it gets. We have customers who have a 2nd home on the Cape who don’t use their system all year round so they do not need their system to be serviced as frequently as a busy fast food restaurant. We generally see our customers on a quarterly, biannual or annual basis, as required. In actuality we don’t even need to ‘see’ our clients when we carry out a service because we can usually access the septic system without the property owners assistance. If you would be interested in hassle free septic system preventative maintenance please do contact our Norton office for details on our septic services or to make an appointment. Today we are already servicing septic systems in East Bridgewater, Mansfield, Norton, Stoughton, Hanson and Sharon MA. You can reach our office on 508-763-4431 or visit http://www.allclearseptic.com

Septic Cleaning Improves Efficiency And Longevity Of Your Septic System

All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services know that proper maintenance is key to ensure that your septic system operates correctly, efficiently and continues to do so. Without regular maintenance your septic system will fail and will need to be replaced much sooner than if you had regular preventative maintenance. Getting your tanks cleaned on a regular basis will help to improve the efficiency of your septic system and keep it running smoothly. Having your septic tank pumped, which must be done every 3-5 years, does not always mean that your septic system is also ‘cleaned’. All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services takes pride in the work that we do, utilizing specialized miniature equipment to locate specific areas of your system, such as a sewer cam that is used to investigate the inside of your sewer lines, and jetting equipment to clean the pipes within the leach field. Today we are providing septic cleaning to customers in Foxboro, Mansfield, Sharon, Wrentham, Bellingham and Stoughton MA. If you would be interested in Septic Cleaning, Septic Pumping or have any septic questions please do contact our Norton office on 508-763-4431 or visit http://www.allclearseptic.com

Septic Pumping Is Essential Septic System Maintenance

All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services not only installs septic systems and repairs septic systems but also provides essential septic system maintenance – perhaps most importantly septic pumping. Septic Systems must be pumped periodically to remain operating correctly. Even if your system seems to be working correctly you do not want to wait it until it shows evidence of septic problems before you choose to pump your system. By then you could have a large septic problem which may require an expensive septic repair whereas staying on top of your septic pumping schedule will ensure that you are doing the most important part of maintaining your septic system. Septic systems do not need to be pumped that often, if fact if you pump too frequently you can harm your septic system by removing the beneficial bacteria that is required to process your waste. A properly maintained septic system should only be pumped every 2-5 years, as needed, to avoid removing the “good” bacteria and keep the system running smoothly. You only need to have your system pumped annually if you have a garbage disposal. Today we have septic pumping appointments in Oxford, Sturbridge, Oxford, Ware, Spencer and Hubbardston MA. If it has been over three years since you had your septic tank pumped, give All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services call at our Norton office on 508-763-4431 for an evaluation and to set up quick and easy pumping arrangements.

Septic Pumping Is Essential Septic Maintenance

All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services not only repairs, services and inspects septic systems but we also carry out the essential septic maintenance that is always required for your septic system – PUMPING. Regular pumping helps to prevent solids from escaping into your drainfield and clogging the soil. Normally a properly designed septic system has enough space for 3-5 years accumulation of sludge waste. Once waste reaches this point waste has less time to properly settle before leaving the tank into your leach field. This means that more solid waste will get into your leach field. As this becomes clogged liquid waste will not absorb at the rate which it enters the tank so plumbing can backup and waste will reach the surface. To avoid this unpleasant and expensive consequence of neglecting maintenance it is always a good idea to have your septic tank pumped every 3 – 5 years. If you have a garbage disposal you will need to have your septic tank pumped annually. The regularity that you have your system pumped will vary depending on various factors including the size of your septic tank and your water usage. For example a restaurant will need to have its septic pumped more regularly that a summer cottage which is only used in the warmer months. If you are unsure or have any questions please do contact our office where we will be happy to answer any questions that you have. Today we have septic pumping scheduled for property owners in Wrentham, Franklin, Foxboro, Mansfield and Sharon MA. If you need a septic pump out or if you have any questions about septic maintenance or septic systems please do contact our Norton office on  508-763-4431 or visit www.allclearseptic.com

Septic Upgrades Can Extend The Life Of Your Septic System

All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services knows that with the snow that fell yesterday and the forecast snow for the end of the week we are certainly still in the grips of winter here in New England. That is not to say that we close when it gets cold out. We still provide our septic services to our customers even in the winter time! Today we have septic repairs and septic upgrades scheduled for customers in Lakeville, Acushnet and Rehoboth MA. We are also adding a riser to the outlet of a septic tank for a customer in Rochester MA. Adding risers, covers and filters to your septic system will improve its effectiveness. When your septic system is more accessible, it is also much safer and more attractive. Once strong, durable risers and system covers are installed homeowners are able to provide easy access to the system for future septic repairs, septic upgrades or cleaning services, eliminating the need to dig and excavate the system each time it needs to be pumped. Another septic upgrade we can provide to customers is the addition of a effluent filter. Engineers, scientists and educators in the septic industry suggest that property owners install an effluent filter in the outlet tee of their septic tank to extend the life of their system. Coupled with a regular maintenance program, such as All Clear septic and Wastewater Services’ Preventative Maintenance Program, and professional pumping, your septic system could actually last indefinitely. Due to the high cost associated with replacing a septic system, this seemingly small upgrade to your system will pay off in a big way. If you would be interested in septic system upgrades or if you need a septic repair please do contact our Norton office on 508-763-4431 or visit http://www.allclearseptic.com

Cesspools Need Regular Maintenance

All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services work with many customers that don’t have a conventional septic system on their property but instead have a cesspool. As stated on the Mass Gov website:

“A cesspool is a pit which acts as both a settling chamber for solids and a leaching system for liquids. The use of cesspools may overload the capacity of the soil to remove bacteria, viruses, and phosphorus, and to nitrify ammonia and organic nitrogen compounds. A conventional septic system has a tank where solids can settle and begin to degrade, a distribution box, and a soil absorption system (SAS) that further treats the effluent by removing some of the bacteria, viruses, phosphorus, and nitrogen.”

Although cesspools are now out of date and there are more efficient and environmentally conscious alternatives Massachusetts does not require them to be replaced. They state that:

“Only those cesspools that exhibit signs of hydraulic failure, are located extremely close to private or public water supplies, or otherwise fail to protect or pose a threat to public health, safety or the environment will need to be upgraded (310 CMR 15.303). Also, cesspools must be upgraded prior to an increase in design flow (e.g., the addition of a bedroom to a home or seats to a restaurant).”

We provide cesspool services to customers so that they can ensure that their system continues to operate correctly. Today we have cesspool services scheduled in Rehoboth, Rochester, Lakeville, Freetown, Dighton and Norton MA. We do also provide cesspool replacements and have recently done so in Oxford, Southborough and Wrentham MA. If you have a cesspool and require services or replacement or if you have any questions please do contact our office on 508-763-4431 or visit http://www.allclearseptic.com
