Title 5 Septic Inspections Carried Out With Care and Consideration For Your Property

All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services regularly carryout Title 5 Septic Inspections for property owners who are selling their property and need to have a Title 5 Septic Inspection to be carried out before Title transfer can take place. Customers are often concerned about the amount of disruption that a septic inspection will cause because if you are selling a property you understandably don’t want a large unsightly mess to be created. However as sated on Mass Gov:

“The inspection includes determining the location and condition of cesspools, septic tanks and distribution boxes. Often, this will not require extensive excavation. .”

Our inspectors take care to cause as little disruption as possible, for example we will carefully remove turf and place it on a ground sheet along with any soil that is removed when inspecting your septic system. We can therefore replace the soil and turf with as little evidence of the inspection as possible left behind. We understand that although we carry out hundreds of Title 5 Septic Inspections for customers that each one needs to have the same thoroughness, care and professionalism and that is why we have such an excellent reputation in the region. Today we have Title 5 Septic Inspections in Norton, Mansfield, Foxboro, Sharon and Wrentham MA. If you require a Title 5 Inspection or if you have any questions about these inspections please do contact our Norton Office on 508 763 4431 or visit All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services

Leach Field Repair in North Attleboro MA

All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services are experienced diagnosing and repairing septic systems and leach fields/ drainfields. We have been called in for a leach field repair in North Attleboro MA which has been caused by irregular pumping of their septic system. A septic tank should be pumped every 3 – 5 years depending on various factors including water usage and tank size. If the tank fills up with an excess of solids, the wastewater will not have enough time to settle in the tank. These excess solids will then pass on to the leach field, where they will clog the drain lines and soil. The property owner called us concerned because they had liquid puddling on their leach field and sewage smells coming from it. We were able to educate the customer to help ensure that their problem will not reoccur and begin their leach field repair. We also have other septic repairs scheduled today in Holliston, Sharon, Canton, Franklin, Bellingham and Blackstone MA. If you are concerned that you may need a septic system repair, leach field or drainfield repair, septic pump repair or d-box repair please do contact our office to discuss your concerns and to make an appointment if necessary on 508 763 4431 or visit All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services

Septic Pumping Is Essential Septic System Maintenance

All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services know that after getting through the holiday season many people are getting back to ‘normal’ and hoping their finances will do the same. However although some maintenance can be put off until your wallet has recovered from the holiday season one thing that really should not be ignored is septic maintenance, more specifically septic pumping. Septic pumping is not a ‘nice to do’ item but something that has to be done if you have a septic system servicing your property. It does not usually have to be done that often, generally every 3-5 years depending on factors including the size of your system and the number of people using it. However it should be done regularly and if you leave too much time between septic pump outs you will start to see unpleasant and costly repercussions.

We have septic pumping scheduled today for customers in Hanson, West Bridgewater, Sharon, Taunton, Norton and Raynham MA.

Here are some other suggestions that will keep your system running smoothly:

Septic System Do’s and Don’ts

Things you should do

  • DO get your septic tank pumped regularly and have it checked for any cracks or leaks.
  • DO call All-Clear for a Voluntary Assessment of your septic system.
  • DO conserve water whenever possible as a means of reducing the volume of wastewater that will need to be treated and disposed.
  • DO make repairs to any faucets or toilets that are leaking.
  • DO make sure that you are only discharging biodegradable wastes into your system.
  • DO restrict or avoid use of your garbage disposal.
  • DO take the time to ensure that any down spouts or other surface water is diverted away from your drainfield.
  • DO keep the cover to your septic tank accessible by installing covers and risers for easier inspections and pumping.
  • DO have an effluent filter installed to prevent debris from entering your drainfield.
  • DO add a laundry filter to your washing machine.
DO put kitchen trash into a compost or throw it into the garbage – not down your drains.

Things you should NOT do

  • DON’T flush products such as tampons, sanitary napkins, condoms, disposable diapers or wipes into your system.
  • DON’T empty oils or other types of kitchen grease down your drain.
  • DON’T dump any items that can disrupt the treatment process or contaminate groundwater, such as: paints, oils, thinners, pesticides, poisons or disinfectants.
  • DON’T build anything over your drainfield or dig in it for any reason.
  • DON’T plant any landscaping over your drainfield – except grass.
  • DON’T drive a vehicle over your drainfield or compact the soil in ANY way.
  • DON’T run purification back flush into the septic tank.

If you wish to schedule a septic pumping or if you have any septic system questions please do contact our Norton office on 508-763-4431 or visit All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services for an evaluation and to set up quick and easy pumping arrangements.

Did you Know Cold Weather Can Result In Septic Repairs Being Necessary?

All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services know that septic problems arise whatever the weather is doing. However cold weather brings its own set of problems for example:

  • If you have a ‘summer home’ or go away and leave your property for periods of time or just use it part of the week wastewater does not enter the system regularly enough and can freeze
  • If you drive over your septic leach field or drainfield you compact your soil. Compacted soil freezes more easily which can result in damage and possibly a failing septic system. If it is snowy and you drive over the snow on your system the snow will then provide less insulation for your septic system than snow which has been left untouched
  • If you don’t have enough vegetative cover over your septic system you have less insulation from the cold
  • Leaks in your plumbing release water into the septic which can then freeze
  • Poor pipe drainage can be caused by deteriorated pipes, if they are full or back filled with soil or poorly installed. Liquid will pool on one side and can then freeze

Essentially the cold can lead to your septic system freezing which leads to problems, possible repairs and even septic failures. Ironically snow falling is a good thing. Fresh snow is an excellent insulator. As it gets compacted it becomes less effective but it is better than a complete lack of snow cover, dry soil conditions or very cold air temperatures for an extended period of time which will all contribute to septic problems. Today we have appointments in Canton, Stoughton, Sharon, Hingham, Scituate and Hanover MA for septic repairs, some of which are caused by septic system owners not planning for the cold weather. If you have any questions about septic system or need to have a septic repair please do contact our Norton Office on 508 763 4431 or visit All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services

You Can Still Have A Title 5 Septic Inspection Even In Winter

All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services know that as we move into the Christmas holiday season and winter tightens its grip on New England the weather can become even more unpredictable. However even in December some people still want to sell property and if you have a septic system this means you are likely to need to have a septic inspection carried out. If you have a septic inspection scheduled you do not need to worry if it seems that the weather will make it impossible for us to carry out your Title 5 Septic Inspection. On the Mass Gov website it states that:

“If weather conditions prevent an inspection before a sale, Title 5 allows the inspection to be done up to 6 months afterwards, provided that the seller notifies the buyer in writing of the need to complete the inspection.”

Avoid Septic Repairs This Thanksgiving By Not Pouring Grease, Oil and Fat Down Your Sink

All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services are all looking forward to Thanksgiving and the great food and time with our family and friends that goes alongside this holiday. We know our customers are also looking forward to Thanksgiving and food preparation is well underway for Thanksgiving Meals. We would like to remind our customers that it is not a good idea to put any type of cooking oil, fat or grease down the sink where it can enter your septic system. Whilst a well maintained septic system can cope with small amounts of fat, oil and grease, such as natural body oils that go into your septic system when you shower, if you regularly introduce cooking fats, oils and grease into your septic system it could result in a septic system failure if left. Just remember when you are making your beautifully juicy turkey dinner do not pour the fat, oil or grease down your sink. We have been conducting septic repairs in Bridgewater, Raynham, Stoughton, Sharon and Canton MA that could have been easily avoided with a little knowledge and preventative measures. If you have a question about your septic system or you need to schedule a septic repair please contact us on 508 763 4431 or visit All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services
