All Clear Septic5/6/16 Most banks now require that homeowners not only complete a septic inspection, but make all septic repairs required to obtain a passing inspection report before they will issue a mortgage against a property. In Massachusetts title 5 of the environmental regulations requires that a title 5 septic inspection be performed and filed with the Board of Health. The law then allows up to 2 years to complete any required repairs. However most banks still require all required septic repairs be completed before they will lend against the property. No matter where you live or if you are buying a home or selling a home it is a good idea to complete a septic inspection as soon as possible. The repair process can take some time and depending on state and town rules along with the extent of the required repairs, it can easily take 1 – 3 weeks for minor repairs and 4 – 12 weeks for major repairs and the installation of a new septic system.
