All Clear Septic and Wastewater Services wishes its customers and friends a Happy Columbus Day!
Today is the day we celebrate the anniversary of the arrival of Christopher Columbus in the Americas on October 12th 1492. While there are not many homes still around from that period some of us do still live in older homes, some of which have older cesspools rather than modern septic systems or town sewage. A cesspool is a pit which acts as both a settling chamber for solids and a leaching system for liquids. The use of cesspools may overload the capacity of the soil to remove bacteria, viruses, and phosphorus, and to nitrify ammonia and organic nitrogen compounds. Massachusetts does not require that cesspools be replaced however cesspools that exhibit signs of hydraulic failure, are located extremely close to private or public water supplies, or otherwise fail to protect or pose a threat to public health, safety or the environment will need to be upgraded. Also, cesspools must be upgraded prior to an increase in design flow (e.g., the addition of a bedroom to a home or seats to a restaurant).
We have extensive experience working with customers who have cesspools either upgrading them if they are in failure or servicing them to ensure that they continue to operate correctly. Today we are replacing a cesspool for a customer in Swansea MA and have cesspool services in Norton, Rehoboth, Seekonk, Dighton and Taunton MA. If you have a home with a cesspool and either need it to be replaced or need it services please do contact our office at 508-763-4431 or visit www.allclearseptic.com
